Mildred Allbertine LaMotte
unknown - March 13, 2014
Mildred Allbertine LaMotte, 84, of Twisp, passed away peacefully March 13, 2014, at Harmony House in Brewster, Wash.
Mildred was born to Charles and Alise Pursley at Bethet, Ohio. Mildred moved to Washington state at the age of 21, and spent the remainder of her life in Twisp, Wash.
Mildred was a true ranch lady. She was a knowledgeable ranch lady who knew all the aspects of cattle ranching.
She married LeRoy LaMotte in 1965. She and LeRoy had hundreds of acres of property all through the Twisp and Winthrop area where they raised large herds of cattle, mostly herefords. As the years progressed they did a lot of traveling. She was able to see almost every state in the United States, spending their winters in Florida as snowbirds.
LeRoy passed away in 1999. She remained on the LaMotte ranch until her passing. For many years later in life, Mildred worked at the visiting center in Winthrop and at the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce. Mildred was well known for her knowledge of the history of the Twisp area. She very much enjoyed talking to others about the “old times.” Time spent with her grandchildren, Mike LaMotte of Omak and Michelle (Gregg) LaMotte of Omak, were part of her favorite memories.
Mildred is survived by her step-son, Edwin LaMotte of Malott, Wash.; grandson, Mike (Tami) LaMotte of Omak; granddaughter, Michelle Gregg of Omak; four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, all of Omak; sisters, Mary Weber and Faye Arbugh of Williamsburg, Ohio; and numerous close friends of the Twisp Valley.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and her husband, LeRoy LaMotte.
Mildred will be missed for her laughter, good cooking, many historical stories and love for family and friends.
A private ceremony will be held in the spring with her family. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
