Moses Lake man sentenced for child porn

— A 23-year-old man has been sentenced in federal court to five years in prison for distribution of child pornography.

Benjamin James Brekke of Moses Lake will also have a life-term of court supervision and be required to register as a sex offender, U.S. District Court Judge Thomas O. Rice ordered.

Brekke was convicted of the crime in February.

Court records show Brekke, of Oct. 17, 2013, distributed approximately 11 graphic child pornography images of an infant in a car seat being forced to perform oral sex on an adult male to an undercover employee working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The following day, he was arrested and federal authorities obtained search warrants for Brekke's cell phones, where more than 1,500 images of child pornography were located.

“Prosecuting offenders who are not only collecting child pornography, but also distributing child pornography images is a priority of the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Washington," U.S. District Attorney Michael C. Ormsby said following sentencing. "This office, together with its federal and state law enforcement partners, is and will continue to be committed to prosecuting aggressively and seeking appropriate punishment for child pornography crimes.”

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie J. Lister.
