OKANOGAN Folks can sample a variety of food and bid on hundreds of auction items during the annual Taste of Two Valleys benefit for the Loup Loup Ski Bowl.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to midnight in the Okanogan County Fairgrounds Agriplex, 175 Rodeo Trail Road.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for a silent auction and food vendors. A live auction runs from 7:30-8:45 p.m., with dancing to the Randy Linder Band at 9 p.m.
Board President Dave Price said 10 vendors will provide a variety of food to satisfy every tastebud.
Vendors include The Courtyard Downtown, 28 N. Main St., Corner Bistro, 19 E. Apple Ave., and KFC, 620 Omache Drive, all Omak; Twisp River Pub, 201 state Highway 20, Twisp; Smallwood Farms, 23090 state Highway 20, and The Club Sports Bar and Grill, 125 Pine St., both Okanogan; Sweet River Bakery, 203 Riverside Drive, Pateros, Los Camperos Mexican Restaurant, 301 E. The casual event, for those 21 and older, also features a no-host bar.
Price said people can dress as they see fit; some dress up, while others come in T-shirts and jeans.
Event-goers can bid on more than 200 items in silent and live auctions.
The donated items include several trips, including a float plane trip to Stehekin, a skydiving adventure, half-day rental of the ski hill for 30 people, an ice skating party in Winthrop, whitewater rafting trip, gift certificates and baskets, car supplies and other items, Price said.
The event also includes announcement of the annual Ralph Parks Memorial Award to honor someone who’s given extraordinary service to the ski hill.
Recent winners include the late Bill Clayton, Jean Reed and the late Hugh Reed.
Tickets are available in advance from Loup Loup Ski Education Foundation board members or at the door.
A discount is offered for a reserved table of 10, and special corporate tables are available.
Last year’s event raised about $55,000.
Proceeds go toward capital improvements at the hill, located off state Highway 20 between Okanogan and Twisp.
Price said the foundation wants to purchase a new groomer.
Past years’ proceeds have gone toward retiring the debt on the chairlift and building a new lodge.
