Bridgeport wins another five-setter

BREWSTER – Cascade remains undefeated this season after stopping Brewster 25-11, 25-11 and 25-15 on Oct. 8.

“Cascade came out fired up and ready to play from the start of the match,” Brewster coach Marcy Boesel said.

“We never found momentum, but we did improve our effort over the course of the match.”

Outside hitter Kendall Leaver will miss the rest of the season following an emergency appendectomy Oct. 6. She last played against Chelan a day earlier.

“Thankfully, her surgery went well,” Boesel said. “We definitely missed her court presence.”

Cascade (6-0 overall, 6-0 league) is at Chelan (7-0, 7-0) and Brewster (4-4, 4-4) is at Omak (5-3, 5-3) on Thursday, Oct. 17.

OKANOGAN – Quincy knocked off Okanogan 25-13, 15-25, 27-25 and 26-24 in a marathon match Oct. 8.

“We had our opportunities to win games three and four, but just couldn’t finish them,” Okanogan coach Michelle Daling said.

“I really liked how our kids responded after the first game,” she said. “We need to maintain that kind of resiliency the rest of the way.

“Keanna Egbert played her best game of the year,” Daling said.

Egbert finished with 13 kills.

Tonasket (0-7 overall, 0-9 league) is at Okanogan (2-5, 2-5) on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

BRIDGEPORT – Bridgeport won its fourth five-set match this season in topping Oroville, 3-2, in a league match Oct. 8.

The Fillies, who are 4-0 in five-set matches this season, won 17-25, 25-22, 25-9, 21-25 and 15-13.

Bridgeport (7-2 overall, 4-0 league) is at Manson (2-5, 1-4) on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

Liberty Bell (6-2 overall, 3-2 league) is at Oroville (3-4, 1-3) and Lake Roosevelt (2-4, 2-4) at Bridgeport (7-2, 4-0) on Thursday, Oct. 17.
