Okanogan girls go 1-2-3 in javelin

— Okanogan went 1-2-3 in the girls javelin at the Caribou Trail League Championships on May 3.

Kara Staggs won with a toss of 110 feet, 6 inches. She has a best this year of 111-3, which is ranked seventh in the state 1A ranks.

Right behind were teammates Keanna Egbert in second (101-10) and Emily Engle (96-03).

Quincy took the boys team title and Cashmere the girls crown.

Tonasket’s Emily Mills won the 400-meter (1:00.66), which ranks her No. 10 in state. She was third in the 200 (27.44).

Kathryn Cleman was second in the pole vault (9-0).

Rose Walts was third in the 100-meter hurdles (17.25).

The Tigers won the 4x100 relay (52.89) with Kelly Cruz, Cleman, Mills and Jaden Vugteveen.

Tonasket was third in the 4x400 relay (4:22.03) with Mills, Walts, Cassie Spear and Devan Utt.

Brewster’s Brette Boesel in the high jump (5-4), which ties her with two others for No. 2 in state.

Karina Rincon was second in the 800 (2:30.95).

The Bears 4x100 relay was third (54.21) with Boesel, Rincon, Margie Brammer and Daisy Gonzalez.

Omak’s Yvonne Kilgour was second in the shot put (33-9.75).

Haley Little of Omak third in triple jump (32-7.5).

Okanogan’s Mayra Huizar was second in the discus (93-2), third in the shot (30-8.5) and third in the long jump (14-8).

Satya Kent was third in the 300 hurdles (52.70).

On the boys side, Tonasket’s Ryan Rylie won the 400 (53.90) and Ethan Bensing the triple jump (41-7.5), which ranks him fourth in state.

The Brewster boys were second in 4x400 relay (3:42.31) with Omar Castro, Johnny Angel, Rodolfo Espinosa and Felipe Ochoa.

The Bears’ Trey Dezellem was third in the 100 (11.92) and Hunter Bach was third in the javelin (150-6).

Omak’s Sammy Trudeaux was second in the 400 (54.08).

Pioneer Sam Goble was third in the 3,200 (11:08.09).

Okanogan’s Mason Guerrette was third in high jump (5-8).

WINTHROP — Liberty Bell sprinted to the boys team title at the Mountain Lions Invitational on May 3.

Entiat won the girls team championship.

Several double individual winners paced the Mountain Lions.

Austin Watson won the 100 (10.97) and 200 (23.03).

Jaymis Hanson tied with Macen McLean of Mansfield for first in the high jump (5-6).

Hanson won the triple jump (37-1).

Liam Daily won the 800 (2:04.25) and 1,600 (4:50.55).

Right behind in the 1,600 was Ben Klemmeck in second (4:53.75).

The Mountain Lions 4x100 relay won (45.43) with Cesar Dominguez, Hanson, Daily and Watson.

The 4x400 relay won (3:37.61) with Justin McMillan, Kelsey Jensen, Dominguez and Daily.

McLean won the long jump (21-00.75), which ranks him No. 1 in state 1B by more than two feet over John Koffell of Republic (19-11.5).

Saxon Brown of Republic won the 400 (51.28), where he holds the state 1B best of 51.04.

Teammate Duncan Forsman won the 3,200 (10:32.84).

Bridgeport’s Kip Craig won the 110 hurdles (15.59) with teammate Jamison Schroeder in second (17.44). Craig won the 300 hurdles (41.21) with McLean was second (42.04), which should jump him to No. 1 in state 1B.

Oroville’s Luke Kindred won the javelin (156-00). He’s ranked No. 2 in state 2B with a best of 157-7.

For girls, Republic’s Anne Strine won the 100 (13.04), which ties her for fifth in state 1B, and 200 (27.20), which is good for No. 3 in state.

Oroville’s Sierra Speiker won the 1,600 (5:20.60) and Kaitlyn Grunst won the high jump (5-0).

Lake Roosevelt’s Chyenne Kelly-Marconi won the 100 hurdles (17.74) and triple jump (31-1.5).

Raider Erin Moon won the shot put (32-00).

Liberty Bell’s Sarina Williams won the javelin (115-09). She’s ranked No. 6 in state 2B with a best of 118-8.

Bridgeport girls won the 4x400 relay (54.57), nipping Manson by .02 seconds. The team included Aisha Herrejon, Ayana Herrejon, Letty Trejo and Deycy Monje Lopez.
