Churches set Christmas services

Brewster kicks off observances with carol sing, bonfire

BREWSTER – Special services for Christmas are planned all over Okanogan, Ferry and Douglas counties, starting tonight, Wednesday, with a carol sing and bonfire at the Hope Lutheran Church.

The third annual event will be from 7-9 p.m. at the church, 1520 Sunset Drive.

“It’s really warm and just a fun activity where we can invite the community to join us,” Pastor Kevin Moore said.

“I think people don’t always have a whole lot of that sort of thing going on.

“It’s just really neat to be able to involve people from the community.”

Moore said turnout the first year was good, but the weather last year prompted the fewer carolers who turned up to move indoors.

This year, there will be more lighting around the fire to help carolers read lyrics, Moore said.

A potluck of refreshments is served, along with hot cocoa.

The church will also host a worship service in candlelight at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve.

It will be a carol-centered service with traditional Christian readings.

The Chronicle attempted to contact every Christian church in Okanogan and Ferry counties and surrounding areas.

Not all could be reached.
